Pune, 23rd April 2024: As the Lok Sabha elections unfold across the nation, the Maharashtra Superstition Eradication Committee (Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti) has issued a bold challenge to all astrologers in the country: accurately predict the election results and win a prize of twenty-one lakh rupees. The challenge aims to dispel misconceptions and superstitions perpetuated by astrological predictions, particularly in the political arena.

In a press release issued by prominent members including Hamid Dabholkar, Rahul Thorat, Samrat Hatkar, Rambhau Dongre, Milind Deshmukh, Prakash Ghadgine, Vinod Waygankar, and Praveen Deshmukh, the committee outlined the terms of the challenge. The challenge is directed specifically at astrologers who base their political predictions on astrological principles, rather than political analysts.

The challenge questionnaire, designed by the MANS, poses a series of questions to participating astrologers. These questions include predictions for the vote counts of prominent candidates such as T. Shailaja, Nitin Gadkari, Rahul Gandhi, Mahua Malhotra, and Kangana Ranawat, as well as the winners of various constituencies across the country. Additionally, astrologers are expected to explain the methodology behind their predictions, whether through candidate birth charts, palmistry, numerology, tarot cards, or other astrological techniques.

Astrologers willing to participate must submit their entry forms, official questionnaires with answers, and an entry fee of Rs 5000 demand draft (DD) in the name of Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti, Maharashtra by registered post to Karthik Apartment, F-4, Sahara Chowk, Sanjaynagar, Sangli – 416416. Phone No. – 0233-2312512 by May 25, 2024. The results will be officially declared by the Examination Committee within two weeks of the Election Commission’s announcement of the election results.

In a bid to hold astrologers accountable for their predictions, the MANS has called for the application of the Consumer Protection Act to the field of astrology. This would enable customers to seek compensation if the predicted outcomes do not materialize. The committee emphasizes that astrology is not a science and aims to debunk fraudulent practices that exploit people’s ignorance and superstitions.

MANS has a history of challenging astrologers and exposing the fallacies of pseudoscientific practices. Through its initiatives, the committee seeks to promote rational thinking and scientific inquiry while safeguarding society against exploitation and misinformation.
