Pune: E-mail, Website Address Now In Regional Languages

Pune, 22nd March 2023: Under Universal Acceptance Clause, e-mail addresses, and website addresses will now be available in regional languages. The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) has taken the initiative for this and initially addresses of 50 government websites will be made available in the regional language.

C-DAC Executive Director Colonel (Retd) AK Nath gave this information. Universal Acceptance Day is celebrated on 28th March.

At present emails, and website addresses on the Internet are only in English. But since there are various languages in the country, efforts are being made to make the internet multilingual.

In this regard, the addresses of government websites will be made available in regional languages across the country under the Universal Acceptance Clause. C-DAC has made special efforts for that.

Nath said that the domain ‘dot Bharat’ has been registered. Initially, 50 government websites will be addressed in the regional language. After that, other languages will be considered in a phased manner. Various stakeholders are involved in making email, and website addresses available in regional languages.
