Pune: Eight Indian Boys and Girls make quarterfinals at MSLTA ITF Asian B1 Championships

Pune , 20th September 2022: Indian Boys Aryan Shah , Yuvan Nandal , Manas Dhamne , Aman Dahiya and Indian Girls Shruti Ahlwat , Vaishnavi Adkar , Sonal kept the Indian Flag high making it to the quarterifnals of the boys and the girls section at the MSLTA-PMDTA ITF Asian B1 Championships being organised by MSLTA PMDTA and played at the Deccan Gymkhana Courts in Pune

Two upsets were recorded as unseeded Japanese Takamasa Mishiro toppled top seeded Australian Hayden Jones 6-2, 6-4 and unseeded Thai Suphawat Saeoui upset seventh seeded Jeremy Zhang of Australia 6-2, 6-2 to enter the quarterfinals

In the second round matches being played in cloudy conditions due to unseasonal rains in the city sixth seeded Aryan Shah was given a tough fight by Kriish Tyagi before winning 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 , third seeded Yuvan Nandal made short work of countrymate Bushan Haobam 6-1, 6-2 . Local favorite and 14 year old Pune lad fifth seeded Manas Dhamne overcame a loss of the first set to stop a fighting Rethin Pranav Senthil Kumar 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 and make the last eight of the event second seeded Aman Dahiya proved too strong for wild card Cahir Warik winning 6-2, 6-1

In the girls section second seeded Shruti Ahlawat proved too strong for Aussie Rhea Makesar and registering a 6-2, 6-3 win , local girl and another favorite Vaishnavi Adkar posted a quick 6-2,6-0 win over Sai Janvi . In the best match of the day another local girl Sonal Patil of Kolhapur came back from a bagel in the first set to out hit giantkiller Arunkumar Lakshmi Prabha and carve out a 0-6, 6-2, 6-4 win , fifth seeded Suhitha Maruri was given a fight by Singaporean Sue Yan Tan and came back from 2-4 in the third set to win 5-7, 6-2,6-4 in the longest match of the day last over 2 hours 15 minutes
