Pune, 26th May 2023: In a bid to foster personality development and skill-based training among students, Maharashtra School Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar announced that ‘Scout Guide’ will be made mandatory in primary schools.

Speaking at a program held at Savitribai Phule Pune University, Kesarkar emphasized the importance of inculcating the dignity of labor and stated that parents should prioritize Marathi medium education over English medium for further studies.

Highlighting the financial burden faced by parents in private schools and the potential impact on children’s mental health, Kesarkar urged parents not to succumb to the monopoly of private institutions solely for the sake of English education. He assured that all subjects taught in private schools are also covered in government schools. With further education set to be conducted in Marathi, parents are encouraged to embrace the need for Marathi medium education.

Aligning with the National Education Policy 2020, pre-primary schools now fall under the purview of the Act, leading to stricter regulations. Kesarkar emphasized the implementation of stringent controls and permissions for pre-primary schools to ensure quality education.

Regarding teacher recruitment, which was temporarily halted due to a court suspension, Kesarkar confirmed that the recruitment process for 30,000 vacant teaching positions in the state is underway. The aptitude test results have been announced, and candidates are eagerly awaiting the recruitment. However, the recruitment has been stayed by the Aurangabad bench of the High Court until June 5. Once the stay is lifted, teacher recruitment will proceed promptly, ensuring that every primary school in the state is adequately staffed.

Minister Kesarkar expressed his commitment to streamlining primary education and emphasized the completion of all necessary procedures for teacher recruitment, awaiting the resolution of the court’s stay order.
