Pune, 12th April 2022: In the first action against erring schools over non-payment of fees, the education department of the Maharashtra government has issued a show-cause notice to EuroSchool, Undri, for sending school leaving certificate (SLC) to 51 students on email due to non-payment of fees.
Audumbar Ukirde, deputy director of education (Pune division), issued the notice yesterday to the EuroSchool Education Trust and Principal after the parents held a protest on April 4.
According to the show-cause notice, education department officials had visited the school to take back all the 51 students. However, no action has been taken by the school which has violated the following provisions of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009:
Section 16. Prohibition of holding back and expulsion – No child admitted to a school shall be held back in any class or expelled from school till the completion of elementary education.
Section 17. Prohibition of physical punishment and mental harassment to child – (1) No child shall be subjected to physical punishment or mental harassment. (2) Whoever contravenes the provisions of sub-section (1) shall be liable to disciplinary action under the service rules applicable to such person.
The school has been asked to reply to the notice within two days.
“EuroSchool Undri management is in discussion with officials from the Department of Education. We are optimistic that this will be resolved soon”, EuroSchool spokesperson told PunekarNews.in
Earlier on April 8, Sandhya Gaikwad, Primary Education Officer (Pune Zilla Parishad), had formed a committee to investigate repeated violations of laws by EuroSchool, Undri.

Rajesaheb Londhe, group education officer, Pune ZP
Sudam Walunj, extension officer, Panchayat Samiti Maval
Dhiraj Gedam, education expert
Vivekanand Kathmore, press reporter
Vijay Dhumal, parents’ representative.
