The TET examination is conducted through the sacred system to fill the posts of teachers in primary, secondary and higher secondary schools in local self-governing bodies and private educational institutions in the state.

The condition for passing the examination is 60 per cent for the open category, while the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Nomadic and Deprived Tribes, Other Backward Classes and the Handicapped need a concession of 5 per cent, which means 55 per cent marks.

Parallel reservation has been fixed for ex-army servicemen and family members of martyred soldiers. Ex-servicemen are not able to get marks like other candidates considering their age after twenty years of service in the army. Therefore, the seats in this reservation remain vacant. Other states in the country have given concessions in marks in teacher recruitment to ex-army servicemen, wives of martyred soldiers and their families.

Against this backdrop, it was decided to give merit concessions to ex-army servicemen and wives of martyred soldiers and their families in the state. According to this, ex-army servicemen, wives of martyrs and their families will now need 45% marks to pass the TET.
