Pune: Family Court Grants Divorce In Single Day With Mutual Consent And Legal Efficiency

Pune, 28th May 2025: In a rare instance of expedited legal proceedings, a family court in Pune granted a divorce decree in a single day. The decision was handed down by Judge MV Bhatia, thanks to the coordinated efforts of both parties’ lawyers and the mutual consent of the estranged couple.
The couple, who had been married for 20 years and had four children, initially enjoyed a harmonious relationship. However, over time, ideological differences and frequent disagreements led to mounting tension between them. Despite attempts by family members to mediate and reconcile the differences, the couple remained at odds. Eventually, the wife returned to her maternal home, while the husband continued his business and assumed full responsibility for their children.
After filing for divorce, the mandatory six-month waiting period was waived by the court, considering the circumstances and mutual consent. On the scheduled date, both parties underwent counseling, completed the necessary documentation, and fulfilled all procedural requirements. As a result, the court approved the divorce on the same day.
Custody of all four children was granted to the father. Notably, the wife voluntarily relinquished her right to claim alimony.
The case was represented by Advocates Janhavi Bhosale, Bhalchandra Dhapte, and Rahul Pol, who worked efficiently to ensure the case progressed without delay. The legal team highlighted that such expedited handling of divorce cases not only saves judicial time but also offers a swift resolution for parties seeking closure.
“This case sets a precedent for how mutual consent divorces can be resolved promptly with legal clarity and cooperation,” the advocates noted.
