Pune: Father Sentenced to 20 Years in Jail for Assaulting and Sexually Abusing Daughter
Yerwada: The Pune District Court has sentenced a 25-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for physically assaulting and sexually abusing his daughter. The court has also imposed a fine of ₹25,000 on the convict.
The verdict was delivered by Special POCSO Judge Kavita Shirbhate, who found the accused guilty under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to police, the incident took place in 2019. A complaint in this regard was lodged at Yerwada Police Station. The investigation revealed that the accused assaulted and sexually abused his daughter after an argument at home. Medical reports confirmed injuries at seven different places on the victim’s body.
The prosecution, represented by government lawyer Nitin Konghe, presented crucial evidence including testimonies from the victim and the medical officer. Based on this evidence, the court held the accused guilty and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment.
