Pune: Finolex Industries And Mukul Madhav Foundation Provide Food Grains To 2500 Katkari Families

Pune, 20th June 2021: Finolex Industries and Mukul Madhav Foundation in collaboration with Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram distributed food grains to 2500 families of the Katkari community. This includes Katkari families from six talukas of Pune district namely Maval, Bhor, Velha, Khed, Junnar and Ambegaon. The project started from the village of Lavarde at the foot of Temghar Dam in Maval taluka.

BR Mehta, Vice President (Commercials), Finolex Industries, Manoj Pochat, Dilip Mehta, Prakash Kichde, Vinayak Khade, Mahesh Bhuskute, Milind Karmarkar, Suresh Hanamante, Sunil Bhosale from Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, Vishal Bhuruk, local coordinator, Jitendra Jadhav, senior representative of Mukul Madhav Foundation were present.

The livelihood of the Katkari community mainly depends on the collection and sale of honey, wax, gum, ayurvedic medicine, and fishing in the forest. However, for the last one and a half years, they have lost their earnings due to lockdown. With the loss of wages in the second wave, there is a time of starvation in this community. With this in mind, Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram sought the help of the Mukul Madhav Foundation. Ritu Prakash Chhabria, Managing Trustee of the Mukul Madhav Foundation, immediately agreed and gave rations to 2,500 families for a fortnight, said Mahesh Bhuskute from Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram.

BR Mehta mentioned that Considering the plight of the Katkari community, the Foundation has made these food items available immediately. Over the past year, Finolex and Mukul Madhav Foundation have been working to provide food grains, medicines, medical supplies and other essentials to the underprivileged across the country. We are happy to lend a helping hand to this community living in the hilly areas. We are trying to reach out to all the deprived people in the future, Ritu Prakash Chhabria added.
