Pune: FIR Against 150 Persons For Casteist Slur After Argument Over Bursting Firecrackers

Kondhwa, 8th November 2021: A shocking case of casteist slurs against a citizen has come to light for refusing to allow the bursting of firecrackers in front of the entrance of his house.

 

A case has been registered against 100 to 150 people at the Kondhwa police station. The incident took place at Kondhwa at 10 pm on Friday.

 

Sohail Sheikh, Ranjit Pandit, Sohail’s brother, father and their group of 100 to 150 people have been charged under various sections such as illegal entry, conspiracy, robbery, assault and atrocities under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. A 37-year-old man has filed a complaint in this regard with Pune city police.

 

Five people were bursting firecrackers in front of the entrance of the complainant’s house on Friday night and he objected to them. The accused called their relatives and friend who threatened the complainant and beat him and his family members with batons, sticks, stones and bricks.
