Pune: Private Bus, Cab Operators Loot Passengers As ST Buses Off-Roads Due To Strike

Pune, 8th November 2021: The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) staff are on strike from today. Passengers are facing a major problem as the strike has come amid Diwali festivities.

The staff are demanding a merger of MSRTC with the government so that they can get salaries and perks on par with other government employees. They are agitating for the last many days.

From today, almost all ST bus depots in Maharashtra were affected due to the strike. Meanwhile, taking advantage of the situation, private bus and cab operators have hiked fares. This has badly affected passengers who are returning to Mumbai, Pune and other cities after the Diwali break.

Many private travels are charging Rs 1500 on Pune-Amravati route, Rs 1100 on Pune-Osmanabad, Rs 1200 for Pune-Latur, Rs 1200 for Pune-Wardha, Rs 700 for Pune-Aurangabad and Rs 600-700 for Pune-Mumbai route.
