Shivajinagar, 9th May 2024: An FIR has been lodged against two individuals at the Shivaji Nagar Police Station following allegations of making videos of female students of the College Of Engineering Pune (COEP) Technological University.

The accused, Vineet Ajit Surana (residing in Hinjawadi Phase 1) and Arya Girish Kale (resident of COEP Girls Hostel Shivajinagar), purportedly engaged in surreptitious recording of fellow hostel residents. The stolen videos were allegedly disseminated via social media platforms, raising serious concerns about privacy violations and misuse of personal content. They have been booked under IPC 354(c) and Section 67 of the IT Act. The complaint was lodged by Avni Londhe, aged 40, staff of the college.

According to police, the incident took place between 24th January 2023 to 3rd May 2024. The female student clandestinely captured videos of her three hostelmates, particularly focusing on moments when they were inadequately dressed. These illicit recordings were then shared with an accomplice on WhatsApp.

Upon discovery of the incident, the college administration initiated an investigation and lodged a formal complaint with Pune police. In response to the gravity of the allegations, the accused female student has been suspended from the college pending the outcome of the investigation.
