Daund, 19th October 2021: Pune rural police have booked a doctor for allegedly beating a woman while she was giving birth to a baby.

Based on a complaint from Pooja Dalvi (26), a resident of Khamgaon village in Daund taluka, an FIR has been registered.

Pooja was admitted to Jaywant hospital in Yavat on 14th October. While she was giving birth to the baby the doctor allegedly beat her on her face, thighs and hands. The relatives didn’t complain about it for three days as they were worried about her health. After three days Pooja complained to the police and a case has been registered against the doctor.

Speaking about the incident, Dr Chaitanya Bhat who was treating her said, “Given the condition of the patient it was difficult to have a natural delivery. However, with my experience, I was sure that if I tried some way it will be possible. Therefore I was trying to help her but at that time it was difficult as the patient was constantly moving. It also caused me to lose balance and I fell at that time I accidentally hit her near her eye. The most important thing for me is the baby was given birth naturally.”
