Wanowrie, 16th September 2026: A fire broke out on the seventh floor of Siddharth Heights building in Wanowrie on Wednesday evening, prompting the Pune Fire Brigade to rush to the spot. No one was injured in the incident.
The fire was reported at around 6pm, following which a fire tender from the Kondhwa Khurd fire station was dispatched. On reaching the spot, firefighters found that a table and a wooden platform placed near the household shrine had caught fire.
The incident occurred when all members of the family had gone out for the immersion of their Ganesh idol after the one-and-a-half-day festival. The fire also affected the household shrine. Firefighters immediately doused the flames with water and brought the situation under control.
The exact cause of the fire could not be ascertained.

Chief Fire Officer Ganesh Sonune said fire brigade personnel were on alert during the Ganesh festival and appealed to devotees to exercise caution while using lit lamps and incense sticks at home and in mandals.
“Devotees should take special care while using lamps and incense sticks and ensure that electrical systems are in proper condition. In case of a fire or any emergency, the fire brigade should be contacted immediately,” Sonune said.
