Sadashiv Peth, 29th January 2024: A case has been registered against former corporator Uday Trimbak Joshi (65 years old) and his son Mayuresh Joshi (46 years old), along with two officials of a credit institution, for allegedly cheating landlords by forging signatures and securing a loan of Rs 77 lakh.

The case involves Uday Joshi, Mayuresh Joshi, treasurer of Ninad Nagari Sahakari Patasanstha, Ramalinga Sivagane, and secretary Ashok Kulkarni. The complaint was filed by Tanaji Dinkar More (42 years old, resident of Vadgaon Budruk) at the Vishrambaug Police Station, about incidents that transpired between December 2019 and January 2023.

This latest case comes in addition to a previously registered one against Joshi father and son, involving allegations of cheating several individuals of substantial amounts by promising lucrative returns on investments in a gas agency.

According to the police, Mayuresh Joshi allegedly obtained forged signatures of the complainant, who is also the landlord, without informing them about the loan application submitted to Ninad Nagari Sahakari Patasanstha.

Acting in collusion with Uday Joshi, Shivgane, Kulkarni, and other members of the board of directors, a loan of Rs 77 lakh was reportedly sanctioned. The complainant and a woman were allegedly deceived, as they were not informed about the loan, and the said amount was not repaid as promised.

The accused now faces charges related to cheating, forgery, and fraudulent activities in connection with the unauthorized loan transaction. The police are investigating the matter.

Complainant’s lawyer Ashish Patankar said, “Prima facie it is seen that accused have forged the signature of the complainant and obtained loan. Second offence is registered against Mayur Joshi and Uday Joshi.”
