Pune: Former Police Patil Attacked at Villager Fair in Mulshi, Accused Fires Three Rounds
Mulshi, 21st April 2026: A former police patil of a village in Mulshi taluka was allegedly assaulted after he tried to stop a man from creating a ruckus during a village fair on Sunday. Later, when he went to inform the accused man’s landlord about the assault, another youth allegedly threatened him and fired three rounds in the air from a pistol.
The incident took place around 10.30 pm on Sunday, April 19, at Bhoirwadi in Man village of Mulshi taluka. Police have arrested Mayur Kaluram Bhoir in connection with the firing incident while the assaulter is still absconding. A case has been registered against him and five others at Hinjewadi police station in the matter.
According to police, an annual fair is held in Man village on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya every year. A tamasha performance had been organised as part of the celebrations.
At around 9 pm on Sunday, while the programme was underway near Datta temple in Bhoirwadi, a man allegedly stood near the stage, danced and created chaos. Tukaram, a former police patil of the village, approached him to calm him down. Police said the man abused Tukaram, assaulted him and left the spot.
Later, Tukaram went to inform the accused man’s landlord about the incident. Instead of pacifying the matter, the landlord allegedly got into an argument with him. During the confrontation, the landlord identified as Mayur Bhoir allegedly pulled out a pistol and fired three rounds in the air.
The gunshots caused panic, following which Tukaram and others present fled the spot. After receiving information, Hinjewadi police rushed to the scene and began an investigation in the matter.
