Pune: Four Bangladeshi Women Nabbed in Budhwar Peth Brothel Raid

Budhwar Peth, 21st April 2024: In a recent operation, the social security cell of the crime branch apprehended four Bangladeshi women who had been residing illegally in a brothel in Budhwar Peth for the past twelve years. The individuals involved are Masuka Kalam Fakir alias Sheikh (aged 25), Piya Nazmul Sardar alias Sheikh (aged 27), Ruji Haroon Sheikh (aged 38), and Rupa Akash Mandol (aged 40), all currently residing in Budhwar Peth and originally from Bangladesh.

 

A case has been filed against them at Faraaskhana Police Station under sections of the Passports Act, 1967 and the Foreigners Act, 1946. Sheikh and Mandol had been living in a brothel in Budhwar Peth for the past twelve years, having arrived there through a broker. The Social Security Cell of the Crime Branch, led by Police Constable Tushar Bhivarkar, received information about their presence and conducted a raid, detaining nine women from the location.

 

Upon investigation, it was confirmed that Sheikh and Mandol are Bangladeshi nationals without any valid residential documentation. A case was registered against the four individuals at the Faraskhana police station. Additionally, five women have been charged for engaging in indecent behaviour in public spaces.
