Pune: Four Booked For Demanding ‘Hafta’ From Vada Pav Seller And Vandalising His Stall In Chinchwad

Pune 2nd Oct 2023: The Pimpri Chinchwad Police have booked four people for allegedly demanding ‘hafta’ from a street vendor selling Vada paav in the Chinchwad area. The accused allegedly vandalised his shop and a vehicle using a machete.

According to the complaint registered with the police, the complainant runs a Vada paav stall in Ramnagar, Chinchwad area. The accused after eating Vada paav at his stall asked him to pay ‘hafta’ to continue running business in the area. He further threatened to kill him if he fails to pay extortion money.

A case under sections 387, 427, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with sections 5(25) of the Indian Arms Act and section 3 and 7 of the Criminal Law Ammendment Act against four people identified as Rohit Hanumant Manjrekar, Ajay Raju Mane, Manish Ramesh Chavan and Vishal Salunkhe. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
