Pune Ganeshotsav Dispute Resolved; Honoured Mandals to Lead Visarjan Procession from 9:30 AM
Pune, 22nd August 2025: After days of debate and uncertainty, Pune’s Ganesh visarjan schedule has been finalized with all major stakeholders reaching an amicable settlement. The city’s five revered Manache Ganpatis will begin their immersion journey at 9:30 AM, following a consensus reached on Friday.
The breakthrough came during a meeting at the Circuit House, attended by MP Murlidhar Mohol, MLA Hemant Rasane, and representatives of Ganesh mandals. Officials confirmed that all sides agreed to cooperate to ensure a smooth and orderly immersion ceremony.
Under the settlement, the number of dhol–tasha troupes will be restricted, and static (stationary) drumming will not be permitted, to maintain the steady flow of the procession. These measures address the recent dispute over the timing and order of the honoured mandals compared to other groups.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had tasked Mohol and Rasane with mediating the issue. Expressing satisfaction with the resolution, Mohol said, “I may be a minister, but I am first a Ganesh mandal worker. There were no personal disputes—only differing views. All mandals are equal; no one is big or small. The honoured Ganpatis will start the procession at 9:30 AM, with limited dhol troupes. It is a proud moment that Ganeshotsav has been given the status of a state festival.”
The agreement is expected to ease tensions, streamline the immersion process, and preserve the cultural harmony that defines Pune’s celebrated Ganeshotsav.
