Pune: Garbage Truck Arrives Within Hour After MP Supriya Sule’s Tweet
Kirkatwadi, 8th July 2021: Waste carts in large societies of Kirkatwadi have been lying idle for five to six days due to non-arrival garbage trucks. After Baramati MP Supriya Sule tweet, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) administration took heed of it and started collecting garbage making it easier for the citizens to breathe.
On June 30th, Kirkatwadi village merged with the PMC. After which, the garbage trucks stopped arriving at the societies to pick up the waste. Outraged by the stench, citizens from large societies like Kirkatwadi Utsav, Kalpak Homes, Aapla Ghar, Kamal Greenleaf, Urban Gram, Morya Sparsh, and Sukhaswapna expressed their indignation against the municipal administration.
It has been five days, the garbage collection from #Kirkatwadi, #Kolhewadi, two of the 23 villages that merged into @PMCPune, is not happening. Request @PMCPune to look into the issue. Thanks #23Villages #Merger#PUNE @supriya_sule @CollectorPune @mohol_murlidhar

After the newspapers drew the attention of the municipal administration to the waste problem in Kirkatwadi, it was immediately noticed. The next day, three to four trucks arrived to pick up the garbage from the Kirkatwadi societies.
