Pune, January 1, 2021: Due to the concession given by the state government in stamp duty, there has been a drastic increase in property document registration. In the last four days, the government has received revenue of Rs 115 crore from Pune city and district alone.

The reduction in stamp duty has also led to an increase in document registration in Pune compared to last year. Meanwhile, the three percent concession given by the state government in stamp duty has come to an end and the stamp duty has been increased by one percent from today (January 1).

The state government decided in August to give a two-phase rebate on stamp duty to boost property sales. Accordingly, the stamp duty has been reduced by three percent from September 1 to December 31 and two percent from January 1 to March 31, 2021. As a result, the number of document registrations has increased in the last four months, while the reduction in stamp duty has not led to a significant increase in revenue. However, the intention to boost property sales has been successful.

Meanwhile, Pune has the highest number of document registrations in the state, according to the Registration and Stamp Duty Department. 1,81,561 documents were registered in the city and district during the period from 1st April to 30th November this year, out of which the government has received revenue of Rs 1214.45 crore. From December 1 to December 27, a total of 32,004 documents were registered and revenue of Rs 465.37 crore was received, said Inspector General of Registration and Controller of Stamps Omprakash Deshmukh.

The reduction in stamp duty has led to an increase in document registration. The aim of boosting property sales has been achieved and there is a significant increase in document registration in Pune. Deshmukh also said that citizens should take advantage of the concessions available till March 2021.
