Pune: Grand Memorial of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj To Be Erected At Vadhu Budruk, Ajit Pawar Approves Work

Mumbai/Pune, 20th December 2021: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar today gave in-principle approval for the construction of a memorial of Swarajyarakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj at Vadhu Budruk in Pune.

“The memorial of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj should be glorious of his workmanship, befitting of his personality, magnificent. Competition should be organized for the design of this monument and the best design should be selected from it”, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar instructed to work with the locals and take them into confidence.

A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and in the presence of Tourism Minister Aditya Thackeray regarding the erection of the monument at Pune. MLA Ashok Pawar, Additional Chief Secretary of Finance Manoj Sounik, Additional Chief Secretary of Rural Development Rajesh Kumar, Principal Secretary of Tourism Valsa Nair, Secretary of Public Works Department Prashant Navghare, Pune Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao (via VC), Collector Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh (via VC), Pune Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Ayush Prasad (via VC), Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Abhinav Deshmukh (via VC), Vadhu’s former Sarpanch Anil Shivle, Ankush Shivle were present.

Swarajyarakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj is the adored deity of Maharashtra. His contribution to the defence and expansion of Swarajya is incomparable. A memorial commemorating Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj should be erected at Vadhu Budruk. While erecting this monument, it should have a ‘heritage’ touch and the monument should be based on contemporary architecture. Millions of people come every year to pay homage to the Samadhi of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj at Vadhu Budruk. Care should be taken to provide proper facilities to the devotees who go there. The development work of the area should be done in a grand manner with the consent of all, keeping the sanctity of the Samadhi of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, Deputy Chief Minister Pawar instructed to work with the locals in confidence.
