Pune: Gutkha Worth Rs 14 Lakh Seized In Yerwada Area
Yerwada, 30th October 2022: Yerwada Police nabbed a tempo driver transporting Gutkha at Shastrinagar Chowk in Yerwada. Gutkha worth Rs 13.87 lakh was seized in the action taken by the police. The arrested tempo driver has been identified as Savaram Lathuram Devasi (39), a resident of Kondhwa but a native of Kesarsingh Desuri, Pali, Rajasthan.
Devasi had taken Gutkha from the Kondhwa area and was heading towards Wagheli from Nagar road. Assistant Police Inspector Ravindra Alekar of Yerawada Police Station got the information about the departure of a tempo-carrying Gutkha from Shastrinagar Chowk in Yerawada. Then the police stopped the tempo.
The tempo was checked. Then Gutkha powder was found in the sacks. Police have seized Gutkha worth Rs 13,87,880.
The action was taken under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Rohidas Pawar, Assistant Commissioner Kishore Jadhav, Senior Police Inspector Balkrishna Kadam, Police Inspector (Crime) Uttam Chakra by team comprising Rabindra Alekar, Eknath Joshi, Somnath Bhorde, Ananda Bhosle, and others.
