Pune: Gutkha Worth Rs 25 Lakh Seized In Mundhwa, Crime Branch Arrests Trader
Mundhwa, 3rd July 2022: The anti-extortion cell of the crime branch has arrested a smuggler who was preparing to sell gutkha illegally. Prohibited Vimal Gutkha worth Rs 25 lakh has been seized from him.
The arrested has been identified as Prakash Premaram Bhati (33), a resident of Katraj-Kondhwa Road.
Pune Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta has ordered action against those selling banned tobacco products, including gutkha.
Acting on a tip-off received by policemen Amol Pilane and Chetan Shirolkar, a team led by Police Inspector Balaji Pandhare laid trap near Noble Hospital and nabbed the accused yesterday. Police have also seized the car of the trader.
An FIR has been registered against him at Hadapsar police station.
The action was taken under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ramnath Pokale, DCP (Crime) Srinivas Ghadge and ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar. The team included Inspector Balaji Pandhare, API Sajagane, PSI Shrikant Chavan and police personnel Chetan Shirolkar, Pradip Shitole, Rahul Uttarkar, Vinod Salunkhe, Anil Mengde, Shailesh Surve, Vijay Gurav, Sangram Shingare, Saidoba Bhojrao, Pradip Gade, Sachin Ahiwale, Amol Pilane, Kishor Barge, Ravi Sapkal, Asha Kolekar and Rupali Karnavar.
