Pune: Gutkha Worth Rs 92 Lakh Seized In Chakan
Chakan, 11th July 2022: Gutkha worth Rs 91 lakh 20 thousand which was being transported in a tempo for sale has been seized by the police. The tempo driver was also arrested.
This action was taken by the Chakan police at Nashik-Pune highway in the Waki Khurd area at Rohkal phata on Sunday (July 10) around 5 am.
Ganesh Vitthal Bhadale (32), a resident of Koyali, Tal. Khed, Dist. Pune is the name of the tempo driver. According to the information given by the police, it was learned that a tempo transporting gutkha illegally for sale would go from Pune to Nashik on the Nashik-Pune highway.
Accordingly, Chakan police set a trap at Rohkal phata on the Nashik-Pune highway in the Waki Khurd area. When the accused’s tempo arrived at Rohkal phata, the police stopped the tempo. Gutkha worth Rs 91 lakh 20 thousand containing RMD paan masala and aromatic tobacco was found in the tampo. Gutkha and tempo, totally worth Rs one crore 20 thousand were seized. The action was taken under the guidance of Police Inspector Anil Devde, API Prasanna Jarhad, Vikram Gaikwad, PSI Nilesh Chavan, ASI Suresh Hinge, and police personnel Sandeep Sonawane, Bhairoba Yadav, Hanumant Kamble, Nikhil Shete, Chetan Gaikar, Nitin Gunjal, Pradip Rale and Nikhil Warpe.
