Pune: Handewadi Road Gets Waterlogged During Rains Creating Problems For People

Undri, 9th October 2021: Drivers have to get daredevil as the Handewadi road is getting waterlogged even during a brief spell of rains. Motorists, including local citizens, wailed that local citizens had to walk with their lives on their way due to the potholed road.

 

15 years ago Inamdar Nagar Handewadi road (ward no. 26) near Rahmani college in front of the Hind colony has been included in the municipal corporation. However, basic amenities like roads, electricity, and water are yet to be provided. The residents have repeatedly made verbal and written statements to officials of the Hadapsar ward office of the Pune municipal corporation. But, instead of solving the problems in the area, the statements are thrown in the garbage.

 

People’s representatives promised that the area will be developed as everyone will focus on solving local problems. However, they remember these only at the time of elections.

 

Sharafat Pansare, Vikas Bajwa, Khanderao Jagtap, Ganesh Wadkar, Sumit Nevse, Rameshwar Todkar, Dharamraj Mhetre said that the situation was the same again when the elections were over. Citizens expressed deep anger as the problem was never solved.

 

Sasanenagar railway gate and Handewadi chowk, Sriram chowk, near Rahmani college, Inamdar Nagar, low lying areas in front of Hind colony water accumulates every year during monsoon. The monsoon channel work was not done here despite repeated complaints.

 

Citizens have repeatedly lodged verbal and written complaints with the municipal administration. There are large townships in the area and there is a constant rush of vehicles as there are schools and colleges. The potholed road has increased the risk of accidents. Schools and colleges have started.

 

On the one hand, the fear of corona and on the other hand the danger of accidents due to potholed roads is increasing panic for parents.
