Pune, 19th August 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for the ghat regions of Pune district for Wednesday, August 20, warning of extremely heavy rainfall in isolated pockets. However, no alert has been issued for Pune city itself.

According to the IMD’s four-day forecast, Konkan and adjoining ghat areas are expected to receive intense spells of rain, prompting authorities to urge residents to remain cautious, particularly in landslide-prone zones and low-lying areas.

For Pune city, the forecast indicates moderate showers with no severe weather alert. Meanwhile, orange and yellow alerts remain in place for other parts of Maharashtra, including Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, and some regions of Marathwada.

Officials have advised citizens in ghat areas to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from overflowing streams and rivers, and follow safety guidelines issued by the district administration.
