Pune, 3rd September 2025: As chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya, Pudhchya Varshi Lavkar Ya” echoed across the city, Pune concluded the seven-day Ganesha festival with the immersion of 18,771 idols on Tuesday alone. According to data released by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), more than 71,000 idols were immersed between August 27 and September 2.

Deputy Commissioner of Solid Waste Management, Sandeep Kadam, said that on Tuesday, citizens also deposited 22,319 kg of Nirmalya (floral offerings) at designated collection points.

PMC’s Eco-Friendly Arrangements
In a bid to promote an environmentally friendly Ganeshotsav, PMC had set up 38 artificial immersion tanks, 648 iron tanks, 338 Nirmalya Kalash, and 241 idol donation centers under its 15 regional offices.

To ensure smooth and safe immersion, firemen, lifeguards, municipal staff, and police personnel were deployed round the clock at 15 major ghats. Citizens were encouraged to opt for artificial tanks and donation centers instead of traditional river immersions.
