Pune, 21st May 2023: The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Pimpri Chinchwad Police has arrested nine persons involved in online betting on IPL cricket matches in Chinchwad. The police operation, conducted within the jurisdiction of Hinjawadi Police Station, led to the seizure of goods valued at Rs 4 lakh 81 thousand, including two laptops and thirteen mobile phones.

 

The accused were found betting on the match between Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders.

 

With the widespread popularity of IPL cricket matches across the country, it has unfortunately become evident that large-scale betting activities are also taking place.

 

The AHTU received specific information about Vaibhav Baba Ram Dikkar and other individuals engaging in online betting on the IPL match between Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders at Marunji near Hinjawadi. Acting swiftly, the police set a trap and apprehended the gambling participants.

 

The seized evidence, consisting of two laptops and thirteen mobile phones, amounts to a total value of 4 lakh 81 thousand rupees. The operation was conducted by a dedicated team comprising Police Inspector Devendra Chavan, Police Sub-Inspectors Pradeep Singh Sisode and Vijay Kamble, and police personnel Sunil Shirsat, Ganesh Karote, Vaishnavi Gawde, and Nagesh Mali. The team received guidance from Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Chaubey and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Swapna Gore.
