Pune: Kajal Padwal Becomes First Woman Doctor from Shelu Village in Khed Taluka
Ambethan, 2nd April 2025: Kajal Padwal, a young woman from the agriculture-dominated village of Shelu in Khed taluka of Pune District, has achieved a remarkable milestone by completing her medical education despite coming from a family with limited educational background. Her accomplishment has earned her the distinction of being the first woman doctor not only in her village but also in the surrounding region.
Shelu, located in the Bhamner Valley, offers only primary education facilities. Despite these limitations, Kajal pursued her primary education in her village and later attended Bhamboli’s Shri Bhamchandra Madhyamik Vidyalaya for secondary schooling. She completed her higher secondary education at Hutatma Rajguru Arts, Science & Commerce College in Rajgurunagar and cleared the NEET examination to secure admission to Grant Government Medical College, Mumbai. With determination and perseverance, she completed her MBBS degree at the prestigious Grant Government Medical College in Mumbai.
Kajal’s achievement fulfills the dream of her late grandfather Kisan Padwal and her parents, Dwarka and Mohan Padwal. Growing up with aspirations of becoming a doctor, Kajal has set an inspiring example by proving that even a farmer’s daughter from a rural background can achieve great success with hard work and support from family and teachers.
During a felicitation ceremony organized by Shelu villagers and neighboring communities, residents expressed their hope that Dr. Kajal would dedicate herself to serving patients and contributing to society. Bhamboli’s Bhamchandra Vidyalaya also congratulated Kajal on her remarkable success.
Speaking about her journey, Dr. Kajal Padwal said that witnessing the lack of healthcare facilities in rural areas motivated her to pursue medicine. She emphasized her commitment to social responsibility, vowing to serve patients selflessly while keeping in mind the struggles of poverty and hardship faced by many.
