Pune: Ketan Agrawal’s Family Alleges Marriage Facts Were Concealed, Seeks Fast-Track Trial
Pune, 17th July 2026: Nearly a month after the death of Ketan Agrawal in the Lohgad Fort incident, his family on Friday demanded that the case be tried in a fast-track court and that those responsible be given the strictest punishment. Addressing a press conference, Ketan’s father said the family had been shattered by the loss of both his son and his own father within a span of 20 days.
“My son died a month ago, and before we could come to terms with that loss, my father also passed away within 20 days. Losing a son is the worst tragedy a parent can face. These two deaths have completely broken our family. We are still unable to recover from the grief. The pain is greater than an ocean, and we do not know how to move forward,” he said.
Recalling the circumstances before the tragedy, Ketan’s father said the family had been preparing for his son’s marriage and had hoped to see him build a future. “Like every parent, I dreamt that my son would look after us in our old age. Today, nothing is left. This pain will remain with me for the rest of my life,” he said.
He also levelled serious allegations against relatives who had acted as intermediaries in arranging the marriage. According to him, his maternal uncle Narendra Jagannath Mittal and aunt Renu Narendra Mittal had strongly recommended the match and assured the family about the bride’s character.
“They told us, ‘Consider Siya as our own daughter. We have known her since childhood. She is well-cultured. Do not judge the proposal by looking at her family; trust us and go ahead.’ It was only because of their assurances that we agreed to the marriage. Looking at everything that has happened now, I feel they were aware of these facts but still encouraged us to proceed,” he alleged.
Ketan’s father claimed the family had not been informed that Siya had allegedly been previously married to a person named Chetan. “We had absolutely no prior knowledge of this. We learnt about it only through media reports after the incident,” he said.
He also recalled that Ketan had occasionally expressed concern over Siya’s behaviour. “He would tell us that she would often get upset, become irritable and that her phone would frequently remain busy. We would advise him to understand her better and adjust,” he said.
Describing the events of the day of the incident, Ketan’s father said his wife received a phone call from Siya’s mother informing her that Ketan had fallen from Lohgad Fort.
While expressing faith in the justice system, he urged the authorities to ensure speedy trial of the case. “I have complete faith in the judiciary. The investigation so far has been satisfactory. My only request is that my son gets justice at the earliest, the accused are awarded the strictest punishment, and the case is heard in a fast-track court so that justice is not delayed,” he said.
