Pune: Kothrud Ward Officer, Engineer And Peon Caught Taking Rs 15,000 Bribe From Contractor

Kothrud, 11th April 2022: The sleuths from the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) today laid a trap at Pune Municipal Corporation’s Kothrud ward office and caught the ward officer, junior engineer and peon taking a bribe of Rs 15,000.

 

The process of registering an FIR against ward officer Samir Chandrakant Tamkhede (34), junior engineer Anant Rambhau Thok (52) and peon Dattatray Murlidhar Kindre (47) is going on at Kothrud police station.

 

According to ACB, the complainant is a contractor. He had completed work related to drainage pipeline and concretisation in Kothrud and had applied for releasing dues for the same. Tamkhede allegedly demanded a Rs 25,000 bribe for releasing the funds and after negotiation, the amount was brought down to Rs 15,000.

 

The contractor lodged a complaint with the ACB which laid a trap today. When the contractor approached Tamkhede with the bribe, he asked him to give it to the engineer Thok who in return directed him to hand over the money to peon Kindre. And he was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe money.

 

All three were detained and taken into custody. The process of filing a case against them under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act is going on.

 

The action was taken under the guidance of the Superintendent of Police (ACB, Pune range) Rajesh Bansode and Additional SP Suraj Gurav.
