Pune: Driver Killed, 25 Passengers Injured As Bus And Car Collide Head On

Shirur, 11th April 2022: A car and a bus collided head-on at Shikrapur on the Pune-Nagar highway, killing the driver and injuring 25 passengers. Most of the injured passengers are residents of Pune city and nearby places.

After the accident, the bus overturned, hitting other vehicles and entering a hotel on the side of the road. Three other vehicles and a hotel were also damaged.

The accident took place around midnight at Bajrangwadi near Shikrapur on the Pune-Nagar highway.

Vishal Baban Saswade (34), resident of Shikrapur,  is the name of the driver killed in the accident.

According to the police, a passenger bus was traveling from Pune to the city on the Pune-Nagar highway. At the same time, a car coming from the city towards Pune lost control and hit the divider. It crossed the divider and came to the opposite side of the road and hit the bus. As a result, the bus driver lost control. The bus overturned and crashed into the Royal Palace Hotel across the street.

The bus hit three other vehicles while entering the hotel, causing damage. Upon receiving information about the incident, Assistant Police Inspector Vaibhav Pawar, Vikram Salunke, Ranjit Pathare, Nitin Atkare, Assistant Sub-Inspector Mahendra Shinde, Police Naik Kalpesh Rakhonde, Rakesh Malekar, Shivaji Talole, Bharat Koli, Bapu Hadagale, Vikas Patil, Santosh Markad, Shrimant Honmane, Amol Dandge, Jaideep Deokar, Amol Nalge, Vikas More and others rushed to the spot.

All the injured passengers on the bus were rushed to the hospital with the help of citizens. The investigation is being conducted by API Vaibhav Pawar under the guidance of Inspector Hemant Shedge.
