Pune: Leopard Hunted Instead Of Wild Boar; Leopard Lost Its Life After Being Trapped For Seven Days
Pune, 7th October 2022: A trap was set to hunt a wild boar, but a Leopard was found in a trap resulting in its death. Apparently, the leopard was trapped in the trap for a week and is believed to have died as a result. This leopard has been cremated. The incident took place at Ladkatwadi, taluka Daund. A case has been registered against an unknown person.
Shashikant Ladkat, a farmer from Ladkatwadi, has a sugarcane farm. A hunter had set a trap for a wild boar right next to this farm. A male leopard got stuck in it and it couldn’t get out of the trap. No one walked there for a few days hence, the leopard died there.
This leopard is estimated to be approximately six years old. When some citizens were passing through the area, they found the leopard dead and they immediately informed the Forest Department.
After that, forest officials reached the spot. Assistant Conservator of Forests Deepak Pawar took further action after receiving information about this. On this occasion, Forest Park Officer Kalyani Ghodase, Forester Sachin Puri, Nanasaheb Chavan, Sunita Shirsat, Ramesh Kolekar, Vilas Hole, Suresh Pawar, Naushad Sheikh inspected the incident site.
Anil Ingwale conducted the autopsy. After that, the dead leopard was cremated in the forest area of Pimpalgaon. The entire matter will be investigated by the Forest Department to identify who set the trap at the place.
