Pune: Lonavala Logs 670 mm Rain in 24 Hours, Chinchwad Records Over 200 mm

Pune, 6th July 2026: Torrential rain continued to batter Pune district over the past 24 hours, with the ghat sections recording exceptionally high rainfall and several parts of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad witnessing extremely heavy showers, according to data released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Lonavala recorded 670 mm of rainfall between 8.30 am on July 5 and 8.30 am on July 6, taking its cumulative monsoon rainfall to 1,640 mm. Tamhini Ghat received 580 mm during the same period, with its seasonal rainfall reaching 1,884 mm. Shirgaon also recorded an intense spell of 540 mm in the last 24 hours.
Among urban areas, Chinchwad recorded the highest rainfall at 206.5 mm, followed by Bhor (172 mm), Pashan (113 mm), Dudulgaon (110 mm) and Shivajinagar (108.4 mm). Other stations reported significant rainfall, including Nimgiri (99 mm), NDA (98.5 mm), Rajgurunagar (95 mm), Dapodi (93 mm), Malin (83 mm), Shirur (74.5 mm), Haveli (54 mm), Daund (45 mm) and Baramati (15.6 mm).
The incessant rainfall has led to waterlogging, overflowing rivers, traffic disruptions and rain-related incidents across Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, while authorities have urged residents to avoid low-lying areas and exercise caution as heavy rainfall is expected to continue.
