Reported by Varad Bhatkhande
Dehu Road, 12th June 2025: In Pune’s Dehu Road area, a 16-year-old boy was found dead this morning. The body was discovered on the service road of the old Mumbai-Pune Highway. The deceased’s cousin was also injured. In a shocking update, police revealed that the murder was the result of a love triangle, with both the accused and the deceased reportedly in love with the same girl.
The deceased has been identified as Dilip Moriya (16), while his cousin, Arun Moriya (14), was injured in the incident. A case has been registered at Dehu Road Police Station against Sunny Singh (18, resident of Bihar), who is currently absconding.
According to police reports, a girl living in the Somatane Phata area was simultaneously in a relationship with both the accused, Singh, and the deceased, Dilip Moriya. This had led to previous arguments and altercations among the trio. On Wednesday night, Dilip called Arun to the Thomas Colony area. Sunny Singh arrived there, and a fight broke out between Dilip and Sunny. Arun tried to intervene, but Sunny attacked him with a knife. Arun managed to escape and sought help from a friend, who rushed him to Dehu Road Cantonment Hospital.
As soon as Dehu Road Police learned of the incident, they rushed to Thomas Colony but could not find Dilip. The search for him continued throughout the night. At around 5:15 AM this morning, Dilip was found dead on the service road of the Mumbai-Pune Highway, with knife wounds on his neck. Dehu Road Police are investigating the matter further.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Vishal Gaikwad told Punekar News, “The dead body was found this morning. A love triangle is suspected as the motive for the murder. The accused has managed to escape. We are searching for him, and two police teams have been dispatched to find him.”
