Pune: “M for Marathi” Slogan Resonates at Dhankawadi’s Grand Ganesh Procession; 500 Marathi Teachers Felicitated, 10,000 Books Distributed

Dhankawadi, 27th August 2025: Celebrating Marathi’s newly conferred classical language status, the slogan “M for Marathi” reverberated across Dhankawadi as 11 Ganesh mandals jointly organized a unique public procession that drew thousands of devotees on Wednesday. The highlight was a “Marathi Gaurav Rath” (Marathi Glory Chariot) carrying the idols of all participating mandals, adorned with books as an offering to Lord Ganesh, the deity of wisdom.

The participating mandals included Sainath Mitra Mandal, Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Mitra Mandal, Adarsh Mitra Mandal, Five Star Mitra Mandal, Keshav Mitra Mandal, Jai Maharashtra Mandal, Akhil Narveer Tanaji Nagar Mitra Mandal, Ekta Mitra Mandal, Vidyanagari Mitra Mandal, Ramkrishna Mitra Mandal, and Akhil Mohan Nagar Mitra Mandal. The joint procession began at Gulabnagar and passed through Dhankawadi village, Keshav Complex, Vidyanagari Shivshankar Chowk, before concluding at Mohan Nagar.

A special Marathi dhol pathak by Jnana Prabodhini’s “Ek Sur, Ek Taal” captivated the devotees with its synchronized beats. As part of the celebration, 500 Marathi language teachers were felicitated along the procession route, and 10,000 Marathi books were distributed to promote reading and cultural pride.

Among the dignitaries present were MLA Bhimrao Tapkir, Varsha Tapkir, former corporators Vishal Tambe and Mohini Devkar, Dhankawadi Assistant Commissioner Surekha Bange, and Ann Madam, a special guest from Italy. Mandal office bearers including Santosh Dhanavkade, Abhishek Tapkir, Uday Jagtap, Vijay Kshirsagar, Sunil Pisal, Aniruddha Yewale, Pratik Kumbhar, Uday Gund Patil, Vicky Subagade, Anand Shinde, Vishal Nigade, Uday Bhosale, Somnath Shirke, Shantanu Yewale, and Manoj Shinde also actively participated.

The event blended devotion, cultural pride, and social awareness, underscoring Marathi’s rich literary heritage while honoring those who nurture it.
