Pune Man Duped of Rs 2.5 Lakh in Fake MBA Admission Scam

Camp, 10th April 2025: A resident of Kondhwa has filed a complaint alleging he was defrauded of ₹2.5 lakh by a man who promised to help secure an MBA seat for his son at a reputed institute. The Lashkar Police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
The accused, identified as Yasin Ismail Shaikh (39), a resident of Rasta Peth, allegedly misled the complainant by claiming he could arrange admission at MIT College in Loni Kalbhor. Trusting him, the complainant paid ₹2.5 lakh in hopes of securing the academic opportunity.
However, according to police officials, the money was not paid to the institution as promised. Instead, the accused allegedly diverted the funds for personal use. The incident took place between August 8 and August 20, 2024.
When no admission was confirmed and the accused failed to provide any proof of progress, the complainant realized he had been cheated and approached the police.
Police Sub-Inspector Rahul Ghadge is investigating the case.
