Pune: Man Kills Wife And Creates Drama Of Her Death By Informing Police
Mantarwadi, 22nd March 2022: A 23-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband who suspected her character. He strangled her to death and then threw her body wrapped in a saree and then informed police that she has been murdered by someone.
The deceased has been identified as Vidya Rahul Phadtare (23), a resident of Mantarwadi. Husband Rahul Dnyanoba Phadtare (age 32) has been arrested by Lonikalbhor police station, Pune city police, in this case. Dattatraya Shendge (50) has lodged a complaint against him.
According to the police, Rahul is a driver. The couple was married for the last four years. They have a three-year-old son. The accused had been arguing with his wife after suspecting her character for months. On the morning of March 21 (Monday), they started arguing again. In the same rage, Rahul strangled Vidya and killed her. After that, he wrapped her body in a saree and carried the body to Katraj bypass area on Monday midnight. Rahul then called the police control room and informed them that he has found his missing wife.
Upon receiving the information, Assistant Police Inspector Digambar Bidve rushed to the spot along with his team. At that time, the face of the woman in the saree was not even visible. So they started questioning Rahul. How do you know that a woman wrapped in a saree is your wife when her face is not visible? As soon as the police asked such a question, the expression on Rahul’s face changed. He confessed to killing his wife.
“After strangling his wife to death, the accused wrapped her body in a saree and carried her on his shoulders. After carrying the body for some distance from the house, he informed the police control room. The body could not be identified in the wrapped state. The husband was later taken into custody on suspicion. He has confessed to the murder”, said API Bidve.
