Pune: Man Pretending To Be Custom Officer From Delhi Dupe Woman Of Rs 29 Lakh, Case Registered
Pune 15th Sept 2023: A 36-year-old woman from Pimpri Chinchwad has lodged a complaint with police regarding an unknown person for allegedly duping her of Rs 29 lakh on pretext of getting parcel on her name. The police have booked an unidentified person in the matter.
According to the complaint registered with the police, the woman had received a call from a person claiming to be a custom officer. The accused claimed that a parcel on her name is stuck in the custom department and asked her to make payments on different occasions on different bank accounts to release the consignment. The complainant made payments worth Rs 29,20,700 to different bank accounts between September 9 to September 13.
A case in this regard has been registered at Hinjewadi police station under sections 420 and 406 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Further investigation in the matter is underway.
