Pune: MBA Student Issued 2700 Fake Certificates, 4 Persons Arrested

Pune, 9th May 2023: Syed Imran Syed Ibrahim, an MBA student, has been arrested for issuing fake certificates to over 2,700 individuals through two fraudulent websites.

The certificates included 10th and 12th class certificates from Maharashtra State Open School, as well as degrees and other certificates in the name of Hind University. The scam was run by 15 agents who worked out of 21 different locations. Sandeep Gyandev Kamble, Krishna Sonaji Giri, and Altaf Shaikh were also arrested in connection with the case.

According to Crime Branch officials, the accused used YouTube videos to create fraudulent websites for issuing fake certificates. Syed Imran Syed Ibrahim created the fake websites for the Maharashtra State Open School and Hind University by watching YouTube videos. He used his laptop to track the issuance of fake certificates to people who contacted his agents. The certificates included those for 10th and 12th pass, as well as degrees in IT and other fields. The scam was spread across Pune city and district, as well as Marathwada, Sangli, and Satara.

The investigation into the fake certificate scam was conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr and Joint Commissioner Sandeep Karnik. The police team was led by DCP (Crime) Amol Zende and ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar.
