Pune Men Duped by Threatening to Make Naked Photos Viral
Pune, October 7, 2020: Probably, a first of its kind incident came into light after as many as eight men filed complaint of being blackmailed of making naked photos/videos viral and cheated at the Pune Police cyber crime cell.
According to police, a few men have lodged the complaint saying that they received video calls from unknown numbers. The women would make video calls and would show their naked videos. After which they would demand men to do the same. Once the men followed their instructions, these women would record it and later would ask them to transfer money; or else they threatened that their videos would be made viral. This type of video call fraud cases is a new way to cheat people in Pune city, said the police.
Cyber crime police station’s Senior police inspector Jayram Paigude said, “we are investigating the case. The video calling has been used in these cases which require the internet connection and the phone number gets concealed automatically. We are trying to find out is there one group or many groups which are carrying out these types of crimes.”
Generally, the cheated men were asked for Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000. Slowly, the amount was increased. Along with police, these men are also contemplating on legal action.
