Pune Metro Update: Land Acquisition for Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar Line 3 Completed

Pune, 5th March 2025: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has successfully acquired 99.94% of the required land for the 23.203-kilometer Maan-Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar Metro Line 3 project. With this latest development, including the recent approval from Raj Bhavan for 263.78 square meters of land, the project has now secured 100% of the necessary land, marking a significant milestone in its progress.
The Metro Line 3 project, being implemented on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, received government approval on 9th February 2018. PMRDA has signed a concession agreement with Pune IT City Metro Rail Ltd. as the metro concessionaire company to execute the project.
Dr. Dnyaneshwar Bhale, Public Relations Officer of PMRDA, stated that 83% of the project work has been completed to date. The recent acquisition includes land from the Raj Bhavan premises, adjacent to Savitribai Phule Pune University, which was crucial for constructing a staircase for the metro station.
The proposal for transferring the Raj Bhavan land was submitted by PMRDA in November 2022. The approval for this final piece of land ensures that the metro project now has full access to all required areas for construction and development.
This complete land acquisition is expected to accelerate the project’s progress, potentially leading to the timely completion of the Maan-Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar Metro Line 3.
