Pune, 4th July 2023: After disembarking at Shivajinagar metro station, passengers now have convenient access to the southern and eastern regions of Pune, thanks to the new bus service initiated by the metro administration. Over 1000 buses under the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) service will be operating for various routes.

In addition to this, feeder services and larger buses are also available from Shivajinagar Court, ensuring a comfortable commute for passengers. To accommodate the increased demand, the PMPML administration has begun planning and will commence the bus service once the metro service is operational.

The metro route extension now stretches all the way to Ruby Hall. The migrant service to Ruby Hall will also commence shortly. Whether disembarking or starting their metro journey, passengers will find the PMPML bus service readily available.

Preparations include:

  • PMPML administration has decided to introduce a feeder service from Garware College.
  • A seven-meter bus will be required for this purpose.
  • Additionally, migrant services can commence from ‘Shivajinagar Court’ using both 9 and 12-meter buses.
  • A 12-meter air-conditioned bus will be utilized at the Shivajinagar bus base.

In a positive development, some of the PMPML routes have already commenced from Surya Hospital near Shaniwar Wada. Once the ‘Shivajinagar’ bus bay is operational, the Surya Hospital routes will be shifted to this bus bay, alleviating traffic congestion in the area. This change is expected to occur within the next one to three months.

Key highlights of the improved transportation system include:

  • At least 10 routes will be served by buses departing from Shivajinagar bus bay.
  • A minimum of 25 buses will be deployed for this purpose.
  • The day will witness 100 bus trips, accommodating a significant volume of passenger traffic.
  • PMPML has responded to increased demand by augmenting the migrant services.
  • As a result, there is a possibility of an upsurge in migrant ridership.
