Pune, 3rd November 2023: The Pune Metro Line 3 project, a 23.203-kilometre stretch connecting Maan Hinjawadi to Shivaji Nagar, is anticipated to be completed by March 2025. This timeline, while promising for the region, has posed inconveniences for daily commuters due to the ongoing construction and heavy traffic.

In response to these challenges, the Union government has taken proactive measures to facilitate the project’s execution. An initial disbursement of Rs 410 crore has been provided as the first instalment of the viability gap funding (VGF) amounting to Rs 1,225 crore. This financial support aims to expedite the completion of the Pune Metro Line 3 project.

The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is overseeing the development of this metro line, and it is being executed through a public-private partnership. The consortium awarded the project consists of TRIL Urban Transport Pvt Ltd and Siemens Project Ventures GmbH.
