Pune, 28th March 2023: Former Deputy Mayor Dr Siddharth Dhende has approached Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil stating that Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) itself should obtain the necessary ‘No Objection’ certificate (NOC) from the Air Force and Environment Department instead of the housing agency to speed up the redevelopment process of MHADA buildings at Nagpur Chal in Yerwada.

On this occasion, Chief Executive Officer of MHADA Anil Mane, Shivaji Thombre of Samata Nagar Galle Holders Federation, Devi Dighe of United Federation, Rajkumar Jadhav, Mangesh Gole of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were present.

Dr Dhende said that the redevelopment of 127 old buildings of MHADA has stalled due to a lack of coordination between the Air Force, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), MHADA, and the state government and frequent policy changes. The Air Force has imposed restrictions on construction in Nagpur Chal Survey No 191 A area in 2016. But what exactly these restrictions are, is still unclear.

Dhende said, “For the resale of buildings, the PMC seeks a separate NOC from the Air Force and the Environment Department from each society. It is our main demand that MHADA should take the responsibility of giving this letter.”

MHADA officials have been instructed to take action on how the owners of the old MHADA building will become owners of the land instead of tenants. He has also instructed the concerned to ask the Air Force to get more clarity about the restrictions regarding construction.
