Pune: MILIT Celebrates Graduation Of 163 Officers From Three Services At DSTSC-05 Valedictory Function

Khadakwasla, 28th April 2023: Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra, VSM, DCIDS (DOT), HQ IDS, the Chief Guest for the Valedictory function of DSTSC-05, exhorted the graduating student officers of the three services at MILIT, Pune to make a positive contribution towards Nation’s aim of ‘ATMANIRBHARTA’. He emphasised the fact that self-reliance of the services is the need of the hour and needs intelligent & pragmatic application of mind by all the stakeholders.

A total of 163 officers from the three services including four from Sri Lanka graduated after successful completion of the Defence Services Technical Staff Course (DSTSC) from the portals of the Military Institute of Technology (MILIT), the premier Tri-Services Technology Training Institute, located at Girinagar in Pune. DSTSC courses are conducted for all arms of the Indian Armed Forces to prepare mid-level officers for tenant Command and staff appointments.

Air Vice Marshal V Rajasekhar, Commandant, MILIT and Senior Faculty members from the three services and other distinguished dignitaries were also present at the ceremony held on Thursday.

The Chief Guest felicitated all the graduating officers and presented awards to the meritorious student officers. First in Overall order of merit in DSTSC Army, Navy & Air Force was awarded to Maj Abhinav Sharma, Cdr Alok Kumar Sahu and Sqn Ldr J Sathish Kumar respectively.

The Purple Trophy instituted to promote jointness amongst the Tri-service officers was awarded to Sqn Ldr J Sathish Kumar.

In his Valedictory address, Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra, VSM, DCIDS (DOT), HQ IDS stressed upon the requirement of absorbing and applying cutting edge technologies in the Armed Forces. He stressed upon requirement of tech savy leaders who are well versed with operational employment of emerging technologies. He also exhorted the officers to remain continually abreast with niche technologies so as to facilitate appropriate induction of indigenous equipment in the Armed Forces.

Praising the initiatives by MILIT, he said that coupled with contemporary technical training, the endeavour to train the Student Officers on niche areas of Artificial Intelligence, Drone Technology, Cyber Security, Internet of Things etc was commendable.

At the end of the proceedings, the Chief Guest advised all Graduating Officers to gainfully utilise the knowledge gained at MILIT in their important assignments ahead towards the security of the nation.
