Pune: Minor Girls Show Courage, Foil Gold Chain Snatching In Model Colony

Shivajinagar, 10th March 2023: Incidents of gold chain theft by two-wheeler robbers in Pune have been on the rise. However, in a recent incident, the gold chain robber was forced to flee empty-handed as two young girls showed immense courage and resisted the robber’s attempt to steal their grandmother’s necklace.

Lata Narayan Ghag (63), a resident of Model Colony, Shivajinagar, was walking with her two granddaughters, Rithvi Ghag (10) and Dnyaneshwari Ghag (6), when the incident occurred on February 25 at around 8 pm. The thief approached them on a two-wheeler and asked for directions to Model Colony. As Lata was giving him the address, the thief suddenly attempted to snatch her gold necklace worth 1 lakh rupees.

However, the quick-thinking granddaughters sprang into action and shouted “thief-thief” while beating the thief, causing him to flee the scene without the gold chain. The incident was reported to the Shivajinagar Police Station, and Lata has filed a complaint in the matter.

The bravery and presence of mind displayed by Rithvi and Dnyaneshwari have been lauded by citizens and Pune police.
