Pune: Missing Three-Year-Old Girl Traced Within an Hour by Warje Police, Reunited with Family
Warje, 3rd August 2026: A three-year-old girl who went missing from Pune’s Warje area was traced within an hour by the Warje Police and safely reunited with her parents on Monday, preventing a potential tragedy through a swift and coordinated search operation.
The child had wandered away while playing with other children near Wadarvasti in Warje on Monday morning. At around 1 pm, her mother, Sushma Pawar, approached the Warje Police Station and reported that her daughter was missing.
Acting immediately, the police informed senior officers and launched an intensive search under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Bolkotgi. Police teams conducted a door-to-door search on foot across Karvenagar and Wadarvasti, examined CCTV footage, gathered information from informants, and circulated the child’s details through WhatsApp groups and the Police Mitra network.
At around 2 pm, the girl was found safe near Bijli Talim Chowk in Karvenagar in the care of Shiladevi Kumar Sonkar (47).
According to police, Sonkar noticed the child walking alone while attempting to cross the road. Concerned for her safety, she took the girl with her and planned to hand her over to the police once the rain subsided. As the child was too young to state her name or address, identifying her was difficult.
Police confirmed that no foul play was involved and that the child was found completely safe.
Following the reunion, the girl’s parents expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Warje Police and to Shiladevi Sonkar for ensuring the child’s safety.
The search operation involved three police inspectors, five police sub-inspectors, and around 30 police personnel, highlighting the department’s prompt response and coordinated efforts in tracing the missing child.
