Pune: MLA Bapusaheb Pathare Demands Expansion of Lohgaon Sub-District Hospital from 100 to 200 Beds
Lohgaon, 24th July 2025: The 100-bed sub-district hospital under construction in Lohgaon is expected to be operational by the end of October, according to Vadgaonsheri MLA Bapusaheb Pathare. He has also formally requested Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Pune Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar, along with Health Minister Dr. Tanaji Sawant, to expand the facility’s capacity to 200 beds, considering the rising population and future healthcare demands in the area.
MLA Pathare has been actively pursuing the establishment of this hospital for several years. He played a key role in securing its approval back in 2013. The hospital is aimed at reducing the burden on Pune’s Sassoon General Hospital and improving access to quality healthcare for residents in and around Lohegaon.
Pathare expressed confidence that the hospital will be inaugurated by October 2025, adding that the construction work is in its final stages. He has been consistently monitoring the progress and following up with concerned authorities.
In the recent monsoon session of the state legislature, Pathare raised the issue again with the Health Minister, who informed him that a proposal had been forwarded to Deputy CM Ajit Pawar regarding the expansion request.
MLA Pathare says that the Lohgaon area has seen rapid urbanization, with residents not only from Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad but also from nearby districts and even other states settling there. Many locals find private hospitals unaffordable, making the upcoming public hospital a critical facility for the region.

With ongoing infrastructure projects like the inner and outer ring roads, Lohgaon is poised for fast-paced development. MLA Pathare emphasized that the current plan for 100 beds may soon prove inadequate. He warned that finding space for new hospitals in the future will be difficult, and therefore, the capacity should be increased to 200 beds in the current phase itself.
